Krista Marks – Naked Entrepreneur

Prior to the acquisition by the Disney Interactive Media Group in July 2008, Krista was the CEO and Co-Founder of Kerpoof. As a new member of the Disney Family, Kerpoof is continuing on the path it set out on in 2006, merging its startup culture with Disney’s global reach, and seeking, as it always has, to fundamentally change how kids interact with computers.

Krista believes passionately in the power of the Internet to bring world-class software to all kids, and Kerpoof.com delivers the Internet’s premier creativity platform for children of all ages, a platform praised by industry insiders, educators, parents, and kids worldwide. She is also passionate about engineering and has long been active in efforts to broaden kids’ awareness of engineering. She helped to establish in Denver a regional F.I.R.S.T. Robotics competition and regularly serves as a judge for both F.I.R.S.T and Lego League competitions. Throughout her career, she has worked with various non-profits in seeking to increase the participation of women and minorities in science and engineering.

Krista’s personal career in engineering has been long and rewarding and has spanned many fields. She is proud to have engineered systems that have helped to explore high energy physics and that have helped to cure cancers through pioneering work in three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy. She holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

Recently Krista returned to the world of entrepreneurship and launched her next great startup: Nimbee
